Flight 1 - 2002 Red Burgundies from 6 Major Communes of Cote de Nuits and Beaune (2 Notes)

  • 2002 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Chambertin-Clos de Bèze 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru

This has everything I want in a red burg. Beautiful nose of violets and blue fruits. A very "clean" wine and would almost suggest a burgundy made by a California winemaker. It is unmistakable in this flight due to the lack of a "funk" factor, although it may lose some points for not having as much complexity as others after. This wine is perfectly balanced in the mouth and still has a good amount of stuffing. It walks the line of being delicate and powerful at the same time. It is in a great spot now, but could be held onto for at least a few years longer. My WOTF.
