Light straw in the glass. Light peach and floral aromatics with nuances of almond and mineral. Medium bodied and fresh but a little vinous with somewhat bland white fruit flavors.
Light gold in the glass. Melons and mineral on the nose with a background peach note. Medium bodied with crisp white fruit, minerals, and a touch of nut. Very nice.
Light to medium gold in the glass. Floral, honeysuckle, stone fruit, and nectar. Really delicious smelling. Medium bodied with ripe peach and honeysuckle flavors on the palate. Nice. 92+ This wound up being my favorite wine of this tasting (both red and white).
France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes
Medium gold in the glass. Honeysuckle aromatics with perhaps a touch of ash. Medium full bodied and similar in flavor to the Les Archeveques 2010 preceding it, with ripe peach and honeysuckle flavors with perhaps a bit more length, but a bit less interesting aromatically in my opinion. Tasty.
Mostly opaque dark garnet in the glass. Juicy nose with a profile that reminds me of Beaujolais and carbonic maceration. A touch of slate and ash. This struck me as just a rather uninteresting Cotes du Rhone.
Mostly opaque dark garnet in the glass. Minerals, a touch of licorice, and ripe cherry on the nose. On the voluptuous side with ripe, somewhat lush red fruit. Pretty good. 90-91.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Somewhat translucent dark garnet in glass. Nose of kirsch, licorice, and a touch of mineral/slate. Medium full bodied with fairly supple cherry fruit and a late mineral and animal note.
Mostly opaque dark garnet in the glass. A bit reticent on the nose with a more savory profile of minerals and blood. Medium full bodied with savory dark fruit and a touch of game. Rather supple as my (limited) experience with St. Joseph goes.
Somewhat translucent dark garnet in the glass. Slightly more feminine than the preceding reds with a mineral and berry nose. Medium full bodied and fairly supple with dark fruit on the palate. Pretty good.
France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes
100% Syrah. 15% stem inclusion. Mostly opaque dark garnet in the glass. Fairly aromatic with iron and some tapenade. A bit more voluptuous than the other reds with supple dark berry fruit. Best red of the flight.
