Hermitage night

Introduction
4th gathering, and tonight theme was Hermitage. After a few starters, we tasted first blind a bottle, before sharing a huge pulled pork, done as bo ssam way.

Tasted blind, I felt the cote du rhone fruit, not so elegant, quite new world in style.
Would probably have gained some aeration ( carafe), more aging, or might have been complimented better with some food.

Afraid it might have been too ripe, but was not.
Nice fruit for sure but some bacon and fur/gameyness to it.

At opening, the tannins were a bit harsh. 2 hrs later and after decanting everything was in place. Quite delicious, maybe lacking a bit of complexity, a bit too modern in style.

Round, some fruit confit mixed wth bright fruit. Palate is bit short. Someone said cow smell, definitly had some animal/ fur taste to it.

That is elegance. Straight (as opposite of round), balanced acidity, then some fruit confits and gameyness. Super long finish. Loved it

Consistent with my previous tasting of it, although the fruit on this one was brighter, and overall the wine felt more fresh and younger. Delicious, but had to downgrade it a bit compared to the Chave.
