France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Rich, smooth and round, with a wonderful nose that has some herbal notes to it (fern ?). Long finish with superb balance and great acid structure. Guessed between 2000-2005 , not Puligny nor Meursault...
I loved the wine, and glad to retry it. Consistent with previous experience : petrol notes, some citrus, round, and good supporting acidity with long finish . It could easily be aged longer without any issue I think.
Opened a day in advance. At that time the nose was completely muted. Fortunately it was not the case the day of the tasting, exploding from the glass, more floral, wonderful Northern Rhone style nose - the guess was Cote Rotie from the scent-. Palate is rich, masculine and a bit sweet while having a nice acid backbone. Nice now, but definitely needs more aging.
Tasted Blind. There is some Northern Rhone nose : animal, slight bacon fat, some red fruits and olive meanwhile some floral notes leading us to Cote Rotie. It was a bit sweet and rich, meanwhile evolved... I guessed a Cote Rotie from late 1990s... It has a balanced side that is very nice, and the animal taste is calling so badly for a steak ! Miam
