nice bright garnet with purple hue, just a little dark. cherry and strawberry flavour, highlighted acidity, more pinot noir style rather than syrah. actually, it's handled in Pinot way. mild pepper still shows variety's characters. delicate tannins, medium body, smooth and elegant structure. long finish with spice and savoury. an interesting and fabulous Martinborough Syrah!

medium ruby. more concentrated than '99 rows'. intense red berries, warm, good structure, a little unsmooth in throat, maybe due to its young age. seductive savoury finish with oak spice and a little herbal hints. a nice Martinborough P.N. showing both fruit side and complex layers.

straw yellow. bright lemon acidity, some citrus and tropical fruits, normal yeast notes. good structure. but to be honest, not an impressive one in this flight.

this 2nd tier label Chardonnay is nearly same as 'Craighall', just a little less density, a little more fruity and mineral.

peach, melon, toast, nutty and oaked, quite complex. well balanced and grand structure, remind me Chassagne-Montrachet. 30 years old vines, low yield. top level Martinborough Chardonnay.

unusual red blend: 60% Merlot, 30% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, though it's been there for many years.
dark red/purple. still young. intense flavours. strong Syrah pepper spice and Merlot dark fruits. CS contributes powdery tannins as backbone in the quite grand but weird structure. heavy and powerful, long woody finish with chocolate and vanilla. but I think there is less harmony among different flavours, tastes just like a quick mixture. reluctant to say it's balanced, maybe this style is too weird to be my cup of tea.
Alc 13.5% , TA 6.0, pH 3.5

2010 Coney Riesling Rallentando 89 Points
New Zealand, North Island, Wairarapa, Martinborough
brilliant pale straw yellow with light green hue. extra dry (1g/L R. sugar, 12.5% alc). fresh, intense citrus and mineral notes, crispy acidity. good structure and balanced. rare elegant style for NZ Riesling.
RC 16.5+, he didn't like the phenolics flavour in the wine, though its dryness and freshness is alright.

light ruby. floral, red cherries, strawberry. intense sweet fruity style balanced with nice acidity and silky tannins. medium length. very easy drinking.
RC 16.0+, well, I assume it was a terrible day for RC, who gave all 6 selected wines 16.0/16.5. not that bad in my palate.
