Introduction

Really enjoyed this evening and I was very happy the wines I brought showed well and spurred plenty of conversation. This place is my favorite Persian restaurant and there's no corkage and lots of space.

Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • NV Camille Savès Champagne Grand Cru Brut Rosé

    France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

Looks light cherry colored in the bottle but a soft pink when poured into the glass. Very fine bubbles and light strawberry nose but this was still cold when I poured it. Superb flavors from the acid on the attack, mid palate strawberry and apple, to the mineral notes at the finish. Very nimble mouthfeel. The salinity was very noticeable, added to the complexity and bang.

    Beautiful pink sparkler, my favorite.

  • 2003 R. López de Heredia Rioja Blanco Viña Gravonia

Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alta, Rioja

This has put on some weight and color since last tasted. The petrol notes seems to settled down as they are just adding to the experience instead of playing first chair. Angular wine but the finish has a slightly glycerin feel.

  • 2007 Arcadian Pinot Noir Sleepy Hollow Vineyard

USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands

Last bottle. Looking a bit older now with significant bricking around the rim. Dark cherry and light oak wrapped in white pepper. A dark plum note is exposed at the end. Medium finish.

  • 2006 Jessie's Grove Winery Cinsault SinSo

    USA, California, Central Valley, Lodi

I love this wine. Very dark maroon color. Sweet cherry, tobacco leaf, earth, and coffee. Excellent.

  • 2007 Lagier Meredith Syrah

USA, California, Napa Valley, Mt. Veeder

Terrific wine. The dark fruit flavors are very tasty and they're complemented by chalk and rare meat. That's not all, it's all surrounded by a huge wrapper of granular tannins. The finish is gritty and youthful. While this is an excellent wine right now I wish I had more to hide in the back of the cellar.
