Another great event. As the evening got later my notes got shorter and less clear. I know I tasted many more great wines but wrote nothing down about them. These include several I remember liking a lot:
Faiveley 1966 Latricieres-Chambertin
Rousseau 1993 and 2001 Chambertin
Also a DRC 2001 RSV I vaguely recall not really enjoying.
There was also a seemingly pristine bottle of Vogüé 1978 Musigny with a perfect label and slightly too modern capsule. An auction purchase from several years ago by one of the guys at our table. Cork was clearly Vogüé 1978 but fully soaked through. Some thought this bottle damaged. I don't think it was 1978 Muigny, but possibly 1978 Chambolle. But we will never know.
2004 Ruinart Champagne Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs 92 Points
France, Champagne
One glass, brief note. Lots of lemon, slightly less apple, lots of coiled energy. Good now, better in a few years. consistent with previous bottles,

2001 François Raveneau Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
Small glass, brief note. Very inconsistent with previous bottles. Good start but an oddly bitter finish that most people at our table did not fully enjoy.

2005 Louis Jadot Montrachet 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
Served alongside the Laguiche, this wine was slightly nutty and showing some evolution but at a charming place now. Great maturing apple and pear with moderate depth, nicely elegant.

2005 Marquis de Laguiche (Joseph Drouhin) Montrachet Flawed
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
Not terribly oxidized, and certainly not undrinkable, but not worth drinking in the context of the other wines to be served at this dinner. Excellent underlying fruit is still quite pronounced, but this is another problematic 2005 Grand Cru.

1999 Coche-Dury Meursault 1er Cru Caillerets 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Served alongside Coche 2000 Perrieres. Spice and apple aromas and faint floral hints. This wine was very open and accessible with lots of charm right now. I preferred this to the Perrieres for today, while thinking that would be be true 5+ years in the future.

2000 Coche-Dury Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières 94 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Served alongside Coche 1999 Caillerets. Floral and orchard fruit aromas were subdued to start, but really gorgeous 30 minutes later. Chiselled on palate, this is a wine to continue to cellar, with the density to age gracefully and powerfully.

1980 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands-Echezeaux
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru
I don't recall ever having this wine before, but it's not one those glorious DRC 1980s I have tasted in some of the other cuvees. Very attractive dried rose petal aromas are followed by completely faded and tired flavors.

1991 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Small glass, brief note. Still nicely fresh fruit with some game notes. Everything nicely balanced, very good textures, very persistent. Lots of pleasure tonight.

1999 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Musigny
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
This was not open long, but never showed anything interesting. Very odd and completely inconsistent with other recent times I have tasted it - even when it was popped-and-poured. A wine I have normally adored.

1999 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Bonnes Mares 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Small glass, brief note. Lighter, elegant style for a Bonnes Mares. All red fruit, with a slight ripeness coming through on finish that is quite nice.

2001 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Bonnes Mares 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Small glass, brief note. Also lighter styled, nicely elegant and refined. Very attractive aromatic start, good density with good fruit on palate.

2000 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Bonnes Mares 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Small glass, brief note. All red fruit with slightly sweet spice. Moderate concentRation and structure. With its earth hints, this is at a great place right now, and I think best to drink by 2020. My favorite for now of the 3 vintages tasted tonight.

2002 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 95 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru

1978 Camille Giroud Charmes-Chambertin 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Small glass, brief note. Mature red and black cherry with great spice start on nose. Similar flavor profile, just slightly less vibrant and exciting, showing a bit more mushroom. Moderate length. Still overall very easy to enjoy.

1961 Marey-Monge Romanée St. Vivant 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru
Small glass, brief note. Bottle in great condition. Super elegant, nicely vibrant with plenty of fruit coming out of the shadows with more air. Very well textured and balanced. A pleasure to taste!

2003 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Small glass, brief note. I saw this wine being poured in the room so chased it down because I didn't enjoy it at all a few months ago, and wanted to see if my experiences would be consistent. I greatly preferred tonight's bottle, which showed greater balance from start-to-finish, despite its ripeness and borderline jamminess.

1988 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
From magnum. Small glass, brief note. Mature red fruit with excellent earthiness. Moderate weight, but perfect textures and balance throughout. I definitely preferred this vs the Cuvee William 1988 tried several times in recent years.

2001 Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Bonnes Mares 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Tasted alongside the 2002. Black and red cherry with some faint mushroom notes, all nicely spiced. At a perfect place right now, perhaps even more enjoyable today vs the monumental 2002 that will keep improving with more cellar time.

2002 Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Bonnes Mares 96 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Tasted alongside the 2001, which is a great contrast. This 2002 has incredibly concentrated black fruit with great spice, even if still slightly brooding. Give more time vs the 2001 at its peak.

2005 Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Small glass, brief note. Ultra concentration with slightly more black vs red fruit. Meaty, long and powerful, but slightly monolithic for now. I wouldn't open this for another decade.

1976 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Ducs
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
Small glass, brief note. Ripe and fully mature fruit. Lots of earth. Very good length. Not quite as interesting as another bottle from a few months ago, but perhaps this was slightly lost in the evening's pace of tasting so many wonderful wines.

1997 Domaine Leroy Romanée St. Vivant Flawed
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru
Beautiful underlying fruit, but slightly corked. So sad because I was excited to taste this alongside my bottle of DRC 97 RSV.

Ripe and mature cross-section of cherries with baking spice. Very good concentration and some sneaky structure provides good support and length.

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
Small glass, brief note. Dense, meaty black fruit with Asian five spice. Great concentration and length. Still just a baby, but incredibly delicious.

2002 Sylvain Cathiard Romanée St. Vivant 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru
Forward, lush, fresh red fruit with lots of spice. A bit of pronounced new oak. Great flavors, but I found it slightly hollow in the middle. While I certainly liked this wine, some others liked it a lot more.

1983 Domaine Clair-Daü Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Late night taste, brief note. Fully mature black fruit with meaty and earthy notes. None of the notes of decay that hurt so many 1983s. Very fun.
