Plum, raspberry, spice and earth. Juicy on the palate with plenty of red fruits coming through and a little earthy kick on the finish. Nice drinking style with some interest.
Musk, strawberry, plum and a strong tobacco note. Plenty of acidity, tannin and character on the palate, with good fruit punchiness and a line of spice running through it.
Vanilla, earth, meatiness and spice - pretty serious nose here. The palate is more fruit forward, with some tannins kicking in on the back palate but I wish they came forward a little earlier and this would really be very good.
Spice, earth, cranberry and tobacco - not super expressive initially but did open a little in the short time I had it in the glass. Palate is medium bodied, with good balance between the fruit and some more savoury elements.
Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley, Broke Fordwich
Tar and spice, with cherry and plum. Good intensity, with full fruit and a good spicy savoury note to it that gives it more interest. Good velvety texture that coats the mouth. Very good but out of step price wise.
Bright lighted nose, some plum, cherry, earth and smoke. Fruit is well restrained on the palate, there is good length and really pleasing flow to the wine.
Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley, Broke Fordwich
Tar, oak, spice and blackcurrant. More tannins and structure here than the Stonybroke, while also having some more density to the fruit. I like both wines for their differing styles.
Tar and meat, cherry and earth. Rounded palate, there is sweet fruit and decent acidity. Tannins stick to the gums a little bit. There is interest to the wine and it is one I enjoyed trying.
Floral and musk notes with some herb butter - quite aromatic. Rich on the palate with fruit sweetness and decent acidity to counter. Probably an earlier drinking style.
Apple, lime, oak and citrus. Fresh on the palate, the fruit does assert itself but it remains well held back. Could have a bit more depth, but does get the job done.
Cork sealed. Truffle, mandarin and mango. Quite well textured, with rich fruit that is rounding out through the age. The boldness is a little bit old school which I don't mind. Drink now.
Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley, Broke Fordwich
Meat and earth, blackberry and chocolate. The fruit shows up on the palate, with a sweet edge to it. Decent acidity and tannins follow through with the length of the wine. Has some interest.
Chocolate, spice, tar and cherry. Rich mouthfeel, good flow to it. Seems to have good balance, there is alcohol there but the weight of the fruit covers it up for the moment.
Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley, Broke Fordwich
Herb and citrus, lemon and mandarin. Clean on the palate, there is a light rounding of the edges and this is pretty approachable. Not bad at all but maybe a relatively early drinking prospect.
Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley, Broke Fordwich
Spice, straw, melon, musk and apple. Good texture here, there is nice depth and mouthfeel as well. Holds on to a good length. Definitely seems enjoyable to drink and has structure as well.
Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley, Broke Fordwich
Cherry, earth, spice, redcurrant and a light herb note. The palate is well balanced, with light and pretty red fruits alongside some spice. Good length and acidity.
Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley, Broke Fordwich
Cherry, smoke, bright lift from some whole bunch inclusion and a light earth note. There is good grip with the balance feeling very good. Well composed and classy wine, this feels like it is right.
Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley, Broke Fordwich
Chocolate and tar, there is also tobacco and spice. Grips quite well, with the tannins controlling the flow of the palate. Good acid and texture that works well with the sweet and savoury fruit profile.
Lemon, spice, lime and mineral aromas. The fruit is quite light in style, with just a little bit of sweetness poking through. Would do well with some more time in bottle I think.
Orange, lemon pith and apple. Fairly soft on the palate, with some residual sugar flavour. I'd like to see some more acidity and texture/grip to give it more spark and interest.
Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District
Strawberry, cherry, baked apple and a little peppery spice. Palate has a good kick of acidity that cuts through the fruit nicely. Has some texture to it as well. Finishes dry and with medium length.
Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley, Pokolbin
Cherry, redcurrant, roses and lifted floral notes. The palate has some brightness through the red fruit but it feels cool and calm throughout. The acidity feels right to me, but I do like higher acid wines.
Spice, meat, ash and earth with some redcurrant as well. Steps up the depth over the Hunter's Shiraz before it. The same acid profile is there, but it definitely feels like it sits within a more complete package. Vibrant and structured, this seems very very good at the moment.
High toned violets, ash and earth with a light oak touch. The palate is driven by bright fruit and good acidity. I like the flow and balance, with both elements of the regional blend contributing character.
Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District
Roses, violet, spicy oak, red cherry and currants. The pretty aromatics carry across to the palate, with good fruit purity and flow, with some grip kicking in across the mid-palate into a good length finish.
Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District
Smoky meat, spice, redcurrant, kirsch and chocolate. Palate is bright, with plenty of fruit richness giving it a mouthfilling profile. Lifts well with the brightness of the fruit and acidity.
Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District
Sultana, caramel, rancio and brandy. Palate is very nutty and caramel in profile, with the brandy element showing through as well. Nice wine in small amounts.
Lemon, apple, musk and fairy floss. Lots of grip and texture here, there is good acidity to go with the nicely rich fruit. Still think that this will improve with more time in bottle.
Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District
Mint, cherry, pepper, redcurrant and violets. Bright fruit profile, with plenty of spice and texture. Structurally feels very good. Weaker vintage but a very very good wine.
Bubblegum, lemon and mint. Savoury fruit on the palate with good cleansing and bright acidity. Nice length. Has plenty of points of difference and interest.
Mandarin, spice, lemon and ginger. Good texture, spice and good length and flow. Composed and well balanced, drinking well now and over the next couple of years.
Meat, violet and toasty oak. Sweet and savoury fruits mingles well together. Medium intensity and depth. Will show better with a few more years in bottle.
Earthy, cherry, spice and rhubarb. Nice texture and length, with well balanced acidity and fruit intensity. Feels like a wine that is really well put together.
