From magnum. At first when chilled this seemed quite nice but as it warmed up it appeared to be slightly corked.

  • 2003 Dom Pérignon Champagne Rosé

    France, Champagne

This showed the vintage characteristics with a rich but not over the top profile. A recent bottle of '98 rose was much leaner and more precise than this 03. This is rounded and more forward but by no means blowsy. There's decent acidity too which helps its cause. 3 bottles tasted throughout the evening with consistent notes. Very good.

  • 1998 Dom Pérignon Champagne P2

    France, Champagne

Wow this has a very different/strange nose. High toned floral notes with oxidized aromas mixed in. On the palate this was quite good but seemed more advanced than it should be. A nice bottle of bubble and a treat to taste, but based on this bottle, I'd much prefer to drink the '98 Taittinger CdC for less money. Very good.

  • 1971 Dom Pérignon Champagne P3

    France, Champagne

Holy shit. This nose is incredible with white chocolate, truffle, cream brulee and mushrooms with bits of floral and citrus. Rich yet light on the palate with deep yeasty and mature flavours. The texture is brilliant: silky and elegant yet powerful and rich. Plenty of acidity and energy for a 45 year old Champagne. Like a mature grand cru white Burg with soft bubbles. This is really amazing stuff.

From magnum. First mag of this was slightly corked but this one was on point. Great nose with fresh dough, bright citrus and hints of toast. Great acidity and mouse. Leaner on the palate than the '06 but I really like this. Can drink now with lots of pleasure but I'll try to let most of my bottles age at least 7-10 years. Excellent.

  • 2006 Dom Pérignon Champagne

A bit richer than the '04 with solid energy and acidity. Really quite good just very young. Hands off for a decade+. Excellent.
