Straw, apple, marshmallow a little smoke and oats. Palate has a ripe streak through it, there is good brightness though it isn't overly deep. Decent length and balance.
Dark coloured but has good aromatics - floral, orange, apricot and fig. Reasonably honeyed on the palate, showing some age, but has the acidity kick through to perks things up. This bottle needed drinking now.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Blind. Touch of oak, some herb, lemon curb and orange - seems to have quite a lot of fruit presence on the nose but the palate has more restraint. Good texture and balance on the palate, still youthful and if the oak note comes into line with the fruit then I think this will be very good.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet
Blind. Apple, pear, mineral and stonefruit with mandarin as well. Delicate on the palate, with clean acidity and good balance with a pithy lemon note, quite elegant and tasty.
Mint, mineral, chalk, smoke and spices with marzipan as well. Really lovely balance, with great acidity and a good lick of sweetness. Carries really well. Slowly developing, another 10 years should put it in a really good spot.
Blind. Tobacco, cherry, redcurrant and blackcurrant, fennel and stalk with a touch of earth as well - good complexity. Serious acid profile, with good grip as well from the fine tannin, the fruit is restrained but holds up to the other elements. Crackingly good.
Blind. Perfumed, violet and apricot, some rubberm earth and slight crushed ant. Youthful acidity, the fruit weight is very light, though the wine seems to have good flow. The palate doesn't have the same interest as the nose at the moment.
Bright red colour. Cherry, meaty, earthy, leather, ash, raspberry and redcurrant. Sweet fruit comes in upfront on the palate, with lots of brightness overlaid on the more savoury elements. Good structure, this is ageing well, with a good medium term future.
White pepper, stalk, tomato leaf, toast and redcurrant. Palate is quite lithe, with a little spice around the edge. Moderate structure, just enough grip given the lightness of the fruit. Good length.
Mandarin, honey, some passionfruit but not too expressive, a touch quiet. Moderate acidity with some rounded fruit. Decent length, but not very exciting.
Ash, tobacco, cherry, sappy herbal notes, earth and leaves. Palate is mild with not too much depth but a herbal factor giving it some interest. Drinking well now.
