France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
A small glass from magnum. Amazing richness and intensity in the nose. Delicious so powerful and creamy with excellent cut. Lots of spice intensity throughout. 94-96
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru
From Jero. Super spice and meat filled nose with leaner, candied black cherry. Good plush fruit with moderate richness. Lots of sweet black and red cherry. Fun to drink now.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru
Good black cherry with lots of Vosne spice. Young and fairly firm at this stage, though still showing some spice nuance and textural interest. Needs time. Lots of upside from here.
A pretty remarkable 30+ year old village wine. Deep nose of maturing black and red cherry fruit with lots of earth tones. The palate is quite smooth and layered. Mature fruit with earth-driven complexity. Nice polish.
Fairly intense mature black and red cherry, with lots of spice and florals. Good freshness and lift across the palate. Right in the middle of its prime drinking window.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
A soaring wow nose -- sweet, candied red cherry with clay and spice. Terrific concentration of red cherry and cranberry fruit. Just starting to show some earth tones. For all the ripeness and concentration, this is fresh throughout.
The nose shows a fair bit oxidation. The palate is more fresh than the nose but still seems prematurely advanced. Still has that trademark density and chewiness across the palate. 88-90 point showing?
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Interesting and compelling nose of mature, dried plum fruit with mushroom and decaying earth. Nice freshness and still rich fruit on the palate. Lots of decaying earth and dried spice adding complexity.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
A fairly reduced and matchstick filled nose. The palate shows less reduced and the rich orchard fruit is apparent. Good spice throughout. Young, and chewy finish. Upside from here.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
A highlight tasted at the auction. A mesmerizing nose that is so layered with mature red and black fruit, clay and earth. Palate is fresh and similar to the nose very deep and layered. Red fruit is bright with lots of earthen complexity. Terrific.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
Very sexy and appealing black cherry with Vosne spice. Velvety, smooth in the mouth. Young and primary, but showing wonderfully especially in the context of the vintage.
Yes, there is a reductive note here but the fruit behind is very polished, ripe and exuberant. Good freshness and lift throughout. Once the reduction fades, this will be an early drinking and fine Volnay.

1990 Domaine de Montille Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens Flawed
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pommard 1er Cru
A bit stewy and dirty in the nose. Earthy black fruit, but once again dirty and seemingly damaged on the palate.
