Introduction

Every participant had to bring a wine of the theme. We did not know which wines were brought by the others. All wines were tasted blind, also without knowing when the wine you brought yourself was poured.

Flight 1 (8 Notes)

  • 2010 Château Cap de Faugères

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux

In the bouquet creamy and round and also some chocolate, tobacco and celery. On the palate ripe dark berries like blackberries and cassis, a pleasant dose of oak, good acidity and round tannin. The celery in the bouquet worries me a bit.

  • 2009 Château Bellegrave (Pauillac) 91 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

In the bouquet dark berries, laurel, graphite and oak. On the palate cassis and other dark berries, some bell pepper, tobacco, pleasant oak, fresh acidity and round tannin. Already a very pleasant wine to drink now, and there is plenty of future.

  • 2010 Château Talbot Connétable de Talbot 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

Beautiful cassis in the somewhat perfumed bouquet, some licorice and slightly rustic flavors. On the palate creamy dark and red berries as well as cherries and some bell pepper and pleasant oak. Beautifully fresh acidity and round tannin. Medium + length. Young maturity stage now and will still be lovely around 2022+.

  • 2010 Château Poujeaux 91 Points

France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Moulis en Médoc

Beautiful bouquet with dark berries, tobacco and vanilla. On the palate juicy dark berries, licorice, some spiciness, good acidity and a bit sticky and drying tannin. Pleasant bitterness in the finish. Will improve with some more ageing. 2024+ will not be a problem.

  • 2010 Château Paveil de Luze 91 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Beautiful and refined bouquet with red and dark berries, laurel, sweet licorice root, herbs, vanilla and a touch of bell pepper. On the palate a juicy wine with ripe red and dark berries, good and fresh acidity and beautifully dosed oak. A really refined wine. Great effort! Already a great pleasure and also a future of at least 4+ years, so until 2022+

  • 1993 Château Sociando-Mallet 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc

Beautiful bouquet with at first a lot of barnyard and horse stable, but after a short while that blew off. There were red berries, oak, leather, forest floor and mushrooms in the bouquet as well. Same impressions on the palate. Still good red and dark berries and sweet spiciness, some graphite and mild tannin. Beautiful and elegant wine. A very nice surprise! 89+

  • 2009 Château Latour-Martillac 91 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

Today's blind note is almost a copy of my (first part) of the note of 4/6/2016. Tasted only one glass today. The wine is still extremely youthful and primary; very lactic. Good oak and fruits, good acidity and tannin. Give it time 2024+ probably! You will be rewarded ;-). 91+
