Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • 2010 Emmanuel Brochet Champagne Les Hauts Chardonnays Extra Brut Millésime 92 Points

    France, Champagne

A nicely done Extra Brut with 2 g/l of Dosage. Disgorged 2/2018. Good richness and fleshy sweetness to the fruit despite the low dosage. Plenty of mineral to add nuance. Well balanced and energetic.

  • 2010 Cappellano Barbera d'Alba Gabutti 92 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d'Alba

Off the list at Marta. Pop n' pour. Gorgeous sweet and musky black cherry. Lush with ripe cherry fruit with spice accents. Plump and round with good juicy acidity. A top Barbera, for sure.

  • 2008 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Riserva Monfortino 95 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

Off the wine list at Marta for a very fair price. This got a quick decant of ~1 hour, so not only is this way too young but it also didn't get much air. Despite that, the wine showed quite well tonight and provided glimpses of what will come. Perfumed with bright cherry, florals and some sweet new leather. Palate is structured and dense, but there is enough sweet fruit to keep to prevent the wine from showing hard. Remarkable amounts of poise given the degree of concentration and stuffing. Clear upside from here.
