  • NV Immich-Anker Enkircher Zeppwingert Riesling Sekt Brut Nature Zéro Dosage 1425 90 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

100% Riesling, 3 years on the lees, relatively old vines. Disgorged on May 2nd 2018 (as it´s written on the label). Very youthful, fresh nose with some fresh sliced white pear and some herbal aspects. Opens up a bit with air and shows some more fruit aromas, although I think it still needs some time in the bottle to show more complexity.
VERY fine Perlage the palate. The acidity is quite balanced and on a medium level. I didn´t expect that at all, normally Riesling Sekt can be quite though in the young age. Not bone dry for me, some sweetness is coming through although I guess it´s from the fruit. Good length and some stone components in the after taste. A quite well made Sekt and really worth to give a try.

  • 2017 Immich-Anker Eisbruch Riesling Trocken 86 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

The Eisbruch comes from 60-70 years old vines. 90% grown on blue slate. South, South-West direction. 7,8 acidity, 5,3 gram sugar.
Still super young nose with tons of white fruit and white flowers. Not much more. Needs time as there is something underneath. A hint more dry than the 2016 on the palate (which wonders me), good drinkability although with a certain kind of seriousness. A touch of salted lemon on the finish.

  • 2016 Immich-Anker Eisbruch Riesling Trocken 88 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

The Eisbruch comes from 60-70 years old vines. 90% grown on blue slate. South, South-West direction. 7,8 acidity, 5,3 gram sugar.
The nose shows much more than the still very young 2017. Also white fruit like white peach and also some grapefruit but also herbal and slate aromas coming through. Fresh and with a certain kind of "coolness".
On the palate "Mosel dry" (it has definitely a hint of sweetness). I expected the acidity to be more dominant but it´s very balanced and integrated. Has a certain length and (again) some herbal components on the finish.

  • 2017 Immich-Anker Enkircher Zeppwingert Riesling Alte Reben trocken 90 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Mostly ungrafted vines, up to 120 years old. The soil is a mix of blue and grey slate but also some quartzite. South, South-West direction. Acidity 8,2, sugar 4,6.
Already much more concentrated in the nose then the both wines before. More ripe fruit, some lime and lime zest, white flowers and some wet stone. Still a bit young imo. On the palate good extract, again some salted lemon on the mid-palate. Salty, has a certain grip and tension. Good length.
A very well made wine with everything you expected from a Mosel wine. Incredible PQR (I think it´s 8,50 Euro directly from the estate).

  • 2017 Immich-Anker Riesling Eschewingert Feinherb 88 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

The Eschewingert is actually a parcel in the Steffensberg. Almost only red slate underground. South facing. 17,5 sugar, 8,4 acidity.
A very delicate nose with fine notes of herbs and white fruit. Not giving much at this point of it´s life. Still very young.
You definitely recognize the higher sugar content although it´s buffered quite good by the acidity. The tension comes over the finish. The mid-palate is not really existing. Living from the "sweet/sour" play. Okay but not really my cup of tea.

  • 2013 Teutonic Wine Company Riesling The Bridge 89 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

Like Dirk already mentioned: Blend of 500l from Eisbruch vineyard at the Mosel from Immich-Anker and 500l from Crow Valley in Oregon. Matured in used barrique, 12 month on its lees.
A very special nose where the oak comes through quite strong imo. You have some pear but also a slightly touch of overripe banana, whipped cream and some coconut.
Very round palate feeling (thanks again to the oak). The acidity is mild, I´m missing a bit the cut and the edge. Also the typical vanilla component from the oak. But it´s quite complex and has power. Nice to try but I guess I wouldn´t spent 30 bucks for this.

  • 2013 Martin Muthenthaler Riesling Bruck 91 Points

    Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau

Intense yellow fruit, also some candied ones as well mixed with a hint of petrol, herbal and stony aromas. Seems to get leaner with more time in the glass. Maybe a short decant could help here.
Has a certain kind of richness (out of the ripe fruit?) on the palate but the acidity is on a good level. Juicy on the finish. Can age easily for another 5-10 years.

  • 2004 Joh. Jos. Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spätlese 92 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

I thought we have to close with something sweet and I brought up this Prüm. On the nose some Mirabelle plums, a touch of vanilla pastry, water melon and herbal notes. A very fine and super delicate nose. On the palate ripe acidity mixed with yellow fruit which creates a very round mouthfeel without any edges. Very balanced and overall totally harmonic. Maybe missing the last length and complexity, but I think only the best producers can create such a "resting in itself" wine. Nice finish of the tasting.
