Tasting at the domaine. From 80 yo vines. Floral start with lemon and green apple. Impressive density for Aligoté. Even better in bottle than it was from barrel last year.
Barrel tasting at the domaine. Ripe apple and baked apple with fleshy character and good balance. Forward in a fashion that will drink well young. Good for its level. 86-88 point potential.
Barrel tasting at the domaine. Made in a vertical press. Ripe start comes across as fat, but then much brighter middle through finish with lots of energy. Very good 90-92 point potential, with so much energy.
Barrel tasting at the domaine. 90 yo vines all planted in gravel, co-planted 50/50 Pinot Noir and Gamay. Bright red cherry throughout with a plump ripeness and sweet spice hints. Intensity rarely found in Passetoutgrains. 87-88 point potential.
Barrel tasting at the domaine. All red cherry and berry with spice hints. Elegant start, riper finish. Good depth for Bourgogne. 87-88 point potential.
Barrel tasting at the domaine. Starts with floral and spice character with plenty of red cherry and berry aromas. Same fruit to start, then some black berry as well middle-through-finish. Very good depth for Village level wine, this will drink so well young and should also age nicely, 88-90 point potential.
Barrel tasting at the domaine. Similar to the Volnay with the same fruit profile, just slightly richer and with greater density. Less accessible right now with sneaky power and structure in the middle. 90-92 point potential, better 2025 forward.
Barrel tasting at the domaine. On the Pommard side, near Mouches. Both very ripe and very firm, this needs lots of time to harmonize and soften. 89-91 point potential, 2028 forward.
Barrel tasting at the domaine. All red fruit with plenty of savory spice and spring flowers. Plenty of structure here, but it is clearly in the backward and barely obtrusive, but helping provide great depth. Very elegant already with 93-94 point potential, probably 2030 forward.
Barrel tasting at the domaine. More power vs Chenes, but more structure and less elegance or grace. This will need cellar time and will show the power and ripeness of the vintage, 91-92 point potential, also 2030 forward.
Barrel tasting at the domaine. In recent vintages they have been destemming this cuvee by hand using a wicker basket of sorts, which seems to be adding to its complexity. It also had a prolonged 21 day fermentation in 2018. So much depth in the complex array of berry and cherry aromas and flavors, with the wine clearly very large scaled for Volnay, but also balanced already. One of the best young Volnays I can ever recall tasting, 94-95+ point potential here.
Tasting at the domaine. Young vines Volnay. Bottled in April. Fun strawberry, lots of summer fun in a glass, but with serious density as well. A very good Rose.
Tasting at the domaine. Bright red fruit core with medium weight, nicely supported by substantive but elegant tannins. Good length. Cellar for a few years.
Tasting at the domaine. Lots of red cherry, delicate spice with firm tannins in the middle, finishes with mineral textures I really enjoy. Cellar until at least 2025.
Tasting at the domaine. Enticing floral start with generally perfumed aromas showing mostly red cherry and berry. Some black berry flavors come in the mix on the palate with brilliant, dancing textures. The long finish is supported by a robust structure that manages to stay in the background. 94-95 point potential here. One of the best 2017 reds I have tasted from anywhere, at any level.
Tasting at the domaine. Red cherry throughout with middle weight and long finish that is a little burly right now. Very mineral textures give this an enticing, but austere edge that I really liked. Needs 2-3 years in the cellar. 89-90+ point potential.
