  • 2015 Jean Foillard Morgon Côte du Py 90 Points

    France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon

    🏅Rating 90/100 (4,0⭐)

Powerful Morgon full of ripe fruits, and spices of pepper. Already silky mouthfeel with forest cranberry flavour. Medium body balanced with good acidity bringing lovely freshness. Well structured and delicate.

Jean Foillard is one of the top producers in B. Organic, even natural wine approach. Late harvest, ambient yeasts, no sulfur, no filtration.

Côte de Py is a great example of Morgon terroir.

Beaujolais can be very serious & high quality if Cru & good winemaker.

  • 2014 Georges Descombes Morgon Vieilles Vignes 88 Points

    France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon

    🏅Rating 88/100 (3,8⭐)

Fruity, but muted aromas of cornel. Fruits on the palate support the nose with coriander notes.

This Morgon shows weaker as opposed to the previous '15 by Jean Foillard.

Fully organic, natural wine approach. Low yields, natural yeasts, no sulfur. Vinified mostly in concrete and little bit of steel.

Might blame the vintage. Overall good quality Morgon.

Georges Descombes produce very high quality wines which support good reputation of Beaujolais Cru.

  • 2013 Georges Descombes Fleurie Vieilles Vignes 89 Points

    France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Fleurie

    🏅Rating 89+/100 (3,95⭐)

Flowers, not fruits. Lilac, elderflower, rhubarb. Palate is also rich and concentrated bouquet of flowers.

Very Floral Fleurie as it should be with silky density. Very good example of this appellation.

  • 2014 Marcel Lapierre Morgon Cuvée Marcel Lapierre

    France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon

    🏅Rating 88+/100 (3,85⭐)

Wine of perfect balance. We are back to fruits of Morgon, but with hints of violets and touch of red sour cherry on the palate.

Marcel Lapierre is "the pope" of natural Beaujolais. Old vines 60+ yo. This Cuvée is the blend of several plots.

Great Gamay you might fall in love with. This bottle seemed to be little shy and stayed in the shadows of others, but still the quality you spot right away.
