  • 2008 Joseph Phelps Insignia 94 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

    (12/24/2019)

Day 1: Christmas Eve Wine. Solid and classic Insignia. Dark currants, earth, menthol, spices, floral and cigar. Medium to long finish. Showing well on the pop and pour but I suspect this will improve on day 2. 94 points

  • 2015 Mollydooker Shiraz The Boxer

    Australia, South Australia

    (12/24/2019)

This is a big style wine. Not to my liking. Blackberries, heat and exotic spices. Just can't find balanced here. For me 84 points

  • 2014 Knez Winery Pinot Noir 91 Points

USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley

    (12/24/2019)

Day 1: Little murky in color. Underbrush, violets, ripe strawberries, funk and spice. This is a lighter style which I love and very nice finish. I am going to really enjoy drinking this throughout the day. 91 points
Day 2: A delicate gem. Mushrooms, perfume, ripe strawberries, underbrush and white pepper. Very flavorful and medium plus finish. This is a solid effort. 91-92 points
Note: Interesting reviews on this wine. Seems like K & L got a bad batch. My prediction heat damage. Mine was purchased from Envoyer and is very good.
Day 3: Burg like with funk, light fruits, floral and earth. Good acidity. Short to medium finish. 91 points
Recommendation: if you get this less than $25.00 buy unless it is from K & L.

  • 2015 Bodega Norton Privada Mendoza 92 Points

    Argentina, Mendoza

    (12/25/2019)

    The new 3 hour review.
Hour 1: Big fruit featuring plum, cherry, raspberries along with floral and spice. Very concentrated and probably the best of the 15's I have tasted. 92 points
Hour 2: This bottle is on fire. Plum, mulberries, cherry, spice, floral and coffee beans. Concentrated wine and medium plus finish. Delicious. 92 points
Hour 3: Not as good. Too much air time. Fruit not as intense and mild spices. Short to medium finish. Should have consumed on hour 2. 88 points
Recommendation: This is a two hour max wine.
Day 2: Picking up some nice pepper notes along with plum, spice, rose petals and Bing Cherries. Actually better than hour 3 yesterday. A real solid effort and one of the most consistent wines for under $20.00 that Argentina exports. 90 points

  • NV Mumm Napa Brut Prestige 90 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

    (12/25/2019)

Another Holiday and another bottle. I must be the number one reviewer in the world on this Sparkling!!! Another good bottle. Apple, spice, dough, pear and tropical fruit. Short to medium finish and really good acidity. This Sparkling wine is so much better than any Prosecco in this price range.
