Flight 1 (4 Notes)

  • 2018 Esprit Leflaive Pouilly-Fuissé 88 Points

    France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Pouilly-Fuissé

Pale lemon. Aromas of lemon fruits and zest, slight grey rocky smokes, and a hint of hay, and white pepper. Medium weighted, with zingy acidity with a greyish mineral touch, then lemon fruits, apples, and starfruit that seemingly get riper as the night progresses, then mild white florals. Finish was fairly long, showing the fruits, stones, and florals. Lovely balance. Clearly a Pouilly-Fuissé like no other!

  • 2018 Esprit Leflaive Pouilly-Fuissé Clos Reyssier 95 Points

    France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Pouilly-Fuissé

Pale lemon, and starbright with a silvery sheen. The aromas are dominated with the mild grey rocky smokiness and white floral fields and dried twigs, then a hint of green apples, lemon and white peach. Acids are mouthwatering, while generally a lean mouthfeel and a razor-sharp feel of minerals, with lemon and grapefruits, and zest, then dried florals, pepper, and a touch of haystack. Lengthy finish, which was mainly driven from the minerals and rocks. A wine that screams finesse! Makes its promotion to Premier Cru 2 vintages later nothing of a surprise

  • 2018 Esprit Leflaive Nuits St. Georges 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges

Pale garnet, with a little orange fading edges. Aromas of hibiscus, underripe red cherry and brambles, and a greyish clay smoky feel. Very lively acids whilst a bit of tannic bite from the start which then softens with some time in the carafe, which also brought out the otherwise fruit flavours of redcurrant and tartish raspberry, whilst maintaining a zing from the minerals. A good length. Great wine!

  • 2018 Esprit Leflaive Pommard 1er Cru Les Arvelets 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pommard 1er Cru

Medium pale ruby with a violet hue. Mostly fresh redcurrant and black cherry on the nose, and a slight greenish feel of parsley. Started off lean whilst with big darkish fruit flavours, which brightened up after some breathing in a decanter, with mouthwatering acids, and the touch of nutmeg and cinnamon. Fairly lengthy. A good wine no doubt, but it has yet aged enough to show its full potential. Needs a few years more in the bottle
