Darker color than expected. Gorgeous nose of sweet dark berry and currant, leather, smoke, cedar and some bitter chocolate. Full on the palate with very good length and there was some good grip remaining Quite enjoyable and a nice surprise.
Beautiful red currant and plum on the nose with a very seductive smokey tobacco note. Still has sweet fruit on the palate with a nice asian spice note; great texture, length, and grip. One of the best showings I've had of this bottle.
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Dark, opaque rust color with a bit of fading at the edge. Powerful nose of ripe (perhaps a touch overripe) dark fruits - cherry, plum, blackberry, with lots of damp earth and underbrush. Some rich, dark chocolate notes as well. Very nice palate with the same ripe dark fruits and damp earth notes. Medium plus bodied with great texture. Would have liked a bit more on the finish. Still, an enjoyable wine I would gladly drink again.
Dark opaque color. Classic, big Mouton nose. Dark currant, plum, and berry with cedar, tobacco, and earth. Very expansive on the powerful palate. Ripe fruits and good minerality and acid balance. A lot of grip; still very young. Very, very good.
Dark color. Dark red/black berry and currant nose. Chocolate and earth too. Very powerful palate; dark fruit and spice, damp earth; great texture. Lots of length here. Surprisingly open for a 2000, though it was decanted for at least 3 hours. Outstanding.
Decanted for at least 3 hours. Nose of pure raspberry and chocolate. Some earth and tobacco notes as well. A bit of coarseness on the palate, but still beautiful, rich fruit. A long finish with fine tannins. A great showing.
Decanted for 5 hours. Powerful yet elegant nose of red cherry, cassis, and currant, leather, tobacco, cedar, and vanilla. Velvety palate with ripe fruit and a big mineral backbone. Fantastic acidity on the long finish. Still quite young, but showing very, very well.
From 750ml. Golden color. Beautiful nose of honeyed apricot, ripe peach, and intense vanilla creme brulee. Very rich, ripe stonefruit on the palate with incredible length. The flavors linger on the palate for over a minute. Haven't had this one in a few years and it is showing exactly how I remembered it last. This wine has a long life ahead of it.
