Introduction
Casual dinner with Russell Bevan (Bevan Cellars) and some local friends. Great food and company. Very generous wine contributions all around. Russell opened several bottles from Bevan Cellars. Big thanks to all for a great night.
2002 Marcassin Chardonnay Three Sisters Vineyard 93 Points

Full beautifully layered nose. Palate full of minerals, medium-rich white fruit and juicy acidity. Long finish.

2004 Kongsgaard Chardonnay 92 Points

Big, rich nose of butterscotch and sweet white fruit. Palate is massively endowed but keeps its balance. Generous toast and fruit into a long flavorful finish.

Pretty herb, smoke and red fruit nose. Palate is smooth and shows plenty of life for a 13 year old merlot. Flavors on the palate echo the nose.

2006 Bevan Cellars Syrah Dry Stack Vineyard 92 Points

Full richly fruited nose has black fruit, violets and black pepper. Palate is smooth and well rounded. Rich, toasty fruit. Delicious and long.

2007 Bevan Cellars Syrah Dry Stack Vineyard 93 Points

Full, nuanced nose has black fruit, herbs and spice. Palate is medium bodied with terrific balance of fruit and acidity. High toned and complex. Just starting to reveal what lies beneath. A different animal than the '06.

In a good place and initially more rewarding than an '05 served side by side. Beautiful, rich nose of currants with a deliciously complex bell pepper note. Palate is rich and chalky with red fruit, mocha and that delicious bell pepper kick. Super!

2005 Colgin IX Estate 96 Points

Initially tight especially next to a more open '03. With time the nose opens to reveal a beautiful smoked herb and red fruit melange. Palate is very young with big, rich fruits and searing tannins to match. Air helps this comes together so unbelievably well. Just singing with flavor and very long.

Full nose rich nose. Beautiful herbs with red fruit. Full bodied palate with loads of fruit and herbs. Big tannins as well. Lots of stuffing here. Needs time.

Wow - really pretty, penetrating and richly fruited nose has herbs, red fruit and toast. On the palate fruit is rich and velvety. I love the violet, herb kick from the Cab Franc. Round mocha kiss from Merlot. Yummm.
