France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chorey-les-Beaune

A wine that may not show well in a tasting because it does not have any playful or brooding fruit characteristics, yet it certainly has a personality that reveals itself. A dark fruit nose, but with a earth-driven palate, with mineral and light fruit character. Balanced and light-bodied. Might need a bit of time to unwind a bit.

Seductive, heady aroma of dark fruit that jumps from the glass. Palate has excellent concentration and balance with ripe, yet restrained, berry fruits. Not much individuality in this wine--that's why its village, I suppose--but a pure joy to drink now and for the next several years.

Nose of cherries clearly shines through the nose. Both delicious and serious in the mouth with minerality and concentrated cherry palate. Finishes long and needs time for other flavors to emerge and compliment the cherry.

Nose not as pronounced as the other Savigny's from Camus-Bruchon, but still a soft berry nose that borders on big instead of elegant. Some concentration, but seems to lack the character of previous vintages.

Though the nose is fairly closed there's clearly much going on here. A complicated complex palate with fresh acidity and grip. Needs time to unwind, but should be very good.

A rather big wine. Heavy dark fruit nose with a bit of earth and spice. Palate also contains dark fruit and a clear spice component. Quite broad and medium-heavy bodied. From 2015. Would be outstanding, but the heavy character of the wine outweighs the elegance I normally look for in Savigny.

Nose of bright red fruits. Bright, light and zippy on the palate with some complexity and a bit of grip on the finish.
