Translucent garnet in the glass. Nose of mushrooms, earth, fig and cocoa powder. Similar notes on the palate with a few notes of sour cherry and red fruit. Medium body, medium high acid, tannins are integrated, finish is a bit short.
Initially has a very smoky nose, but a lot of that seems to blow off fairly quickly. Translucent ruby in the glass. Red berry fruit and rose petal florals on the nose. Similar on the palate with cranberry notes. Medium intensity, medium body, elegant.
Heavy floral component on the nose, like lilac, smoke and blood. Similar notes on the palate with dark fruit. I thought it was nicely balanced between the intensity of fruit and the structure, which I noted as high tannins. I like it when syrah is made this way.
Seems to need a few minutes to start to open up. Nose of lychee, grassiness, apricot and florals. Similar notes on the palate with a core of minerality. Medium high acidity. Slightly oily mouthfeel. Nice stuff.
Dark fruit, blueberry, vanilla on the nose along with a really interesting not of freshly baked "yellow cake." Similar notes on the palate along with a really nice raspberry component. I had some of this sitting in a glass off to the side and kept going back to it. Very nice.

Big nose of overripe black cherry with a bit of underlying spiciness. Similar notes on the palate. Full-bodied. Medium long finish with mouth drying tannins. A big wine with big structure.

Really nice nose. Earthy with dark cherry and singing with that savory character that sangiovese can get. Similar notes on the palate. Medium high tannin and acid. Long finish.
Intense amber-ish gold color in the glass. Really interesting nose of melon, lime, vanilla/cream and floral notes. Similar notes on the palate with notes of minerality. Medium high acid. Full-bodied. A bit hot on the finish.

Beautiful nose of strawberry, forest floor, cinnamon and florals. Intense sour cherry and red fruit on the palate. High acid and tannin, but drinking really well right now anyway.
Blue fruit, dark cherry and pepper on the nose. Full-bodied with good weight on the palate and a silky mouthfeel. Medium length finish revealing big tannin structure.

2005 Tenute Sella Lessona

2004 Tenimenti d'Alessandro Syrah Cortona Il Bosco

Heavy floral component on the nose, like lilac, smoke and blood. Similar notes on the palate with dark fruit. I thought it was nicely balanced between the intensity of fruit and the structure, which I noted as high tannins. I like it when syrah is made this way.
