Introduction

New project from the evil geniuses at CrushPad: TinyBottles.com. Small test-tube bottles with enough wine for a decent taste, maybe 2 oz. All this tied together with an online community called Brixr (http://www.brixr.com).

  • 2006 Château Rayas Côtes du Rhône La Pialade 86 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône

    A wee bit of earthiness on the nose, along with some raspberry. Quite acidic in the mouth, with raspberry and tart cherry.

  • 2007 Féraud-Brunel Côtes du Rhône Villages 84 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages

    Very leathery on the nose, and not much else. Flavors of cherry and leather, with a tart finish that is quite drying and tannic.

  • 2007 Domaine de Font-Sane Gigondas Tradition 87 Points

    Aromas of strawberry pie, and a little bit of dirt. I'm getting flavors of olives, with strawberries in the background. I think my palate is in an odd place, because none of these wines are tasting like they should. Perhaps my light cold is affecting my sense of taste. This one is the best so far...

  • 2006 Tablas Creek Esprit de Beaucastel 90 Points

    USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles

    Very spicy with a nice minerality to it. Some sweet cherry fruit in the background at first, but waking up with some swirling. Tastes of sweet black cherries, and while still quite tight, giving up some nice spice flavors. Killer tannic bite on the finish, drying my mouth out thoroughly.

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast

    Aromas of bacon and tobacco, with blackberry fruit. A surprisingly strong flavor of bacon, with a surge of cherry fruit pushing into the smooth finish.

  • 2006 Gilles Robin Crozes-Hermitage Cuvée Albéric Bouvet 89 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Crozes-Hermitage

    Nice boysenberry and spice on the nose, following to the palate. A bit of funkiness too...some tobacco, and a tannic mocha finish. Nice wine that probably needs either more air time or more bottle time.
