Introduction
This evening, I was treated to a taste of a few Cru Beaujolais from Gorges Dubœuf. I've created a simple event to denote the fact that all 4 were tasted side by side.

The Chénas made a real impression, and after some reading, I'm intrigued by the long long history of the Morgon.
2008 Georges Dubœuf Régnié 88 Points
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Régnié
The nose reminds me of violets and strawberries along a clear mountain stream. Dusty but softer tannins set in right away, and the strawberry flavors come in lightly on the mid palate. I like how the fruit and dust lingers on the finish, but somewhere in the middle there's a bit of a green note.

2008 Georges Dubœuf Chénas 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Chénas
The wine smells like dark plums, with something that reminds me of twigs, and a bit of black pepper. The black pepper appears as firm underlying structure holding up juicy plums and a bit of zippy raspberry. The tannins have some dusty character to them, and the acid holds on firmly well into the finish. Some minerality plays well on the mid palate too.

2008 Georges Dubœuf Morgon 88 Points
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon
Overripe dark cherries, and tree bark appear on the nose. I love how it starts out on the palate, with acidity jumping into the game right away. The fruit is like cherries, but they are brighter than the nose would suggest. The tannins are quite full, and they toe the line of being rough as they cover the whole mouth. The fruit fades quickly to a drier structure on the finish. 88+

2008 Georges Dubœuf Chiroubles 89 Points

The nose is very fruity with currents smashed together with strawberries. The wine is super light, almost empty on contact, but the dark fruit springs into play immediately on the mid. The fruit is like dark, ripe cherries, and I get a hint of apple as well. The acid is subtle at first but it makes my mouth pucker as the finish winds up.
