Touch of oak on the nose, good dark black fruit, nice acidity, bit of tar through the finish. This has such nice fruit, well balanced, I'd love to know how much better this could have been with less new oak.
Brilliant deep red fruit, plum, boysenberry, great acidity, shows great complexity even at this young age. Might be the best LM of the decade so far, one of the best California syrahs I've had.

50% whole cluster, 75% new Hermitage barrels. Very nice dark red fruit, bit of smoke, some lushness but plenty of structure, some spice and smoke, bit of oak and some medium tannins on the finish. Another example of a very nice wine that could have been so much better in less new oak.
100% whole cluster, 30% new oak. Beautiful dark fruit, not quite as "big" as the other Shane syrahs in 08, perfect ripeness, medium tannins, very nice wine.
