Strong floral notes on the nose, much in the line of the 07 Macon la Roche Vineuse Vielles Vignes. Is there enough structure?

Slight lemon on the nose. All in all very like the 06, but with much better structure. The extra acidity makes it much more appealing.

Slightly Suavignon like and I don't mean that in a good way. However, all in all I think this is a success; good acidity, lovely minerality.

More oak than either Les Frionnes or En Remilly, but the best of the Lamy wines on show tonight. Actually the best of a decnet bunch with (for Burgundy) fair prices for the quality.

2008 Jean-Philippe Fichet Meursault Le Tesson

Very good. High level of acidity. A fair whach of oak, but this fits with the rest of the wine and is not incongruous. Probably not one to buy this year, but I'm more than happy that I've got a case of the 07 maturing.

Much better than the Lafon and Lamy wines on show tonight. Not overblown like many (Merlin this time) subtle, well integrated oak. Good acidity. I suspect this might age well for a few years, although probably not long enough for the Pox to become an issue.

2008 Château de Puligny-Montrachet Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières

Good balanced structure, depite this being one of the more acidic offerings from the more fashionable areas of the Cote d'Or on show tonight.
For my taste, it could have done with just a little bit more oak, although I suppose that could be "remedied" by the time the wine is actually bottled.

Slightly metalic flavour. Quite short. Not for me.
Having said that, this is my first Burgundy EP tasting and I have no idea how this might develop. Still, I've no intention of paying for the privilege of finding out.

Beguiling orange peel nose, but the palate is, at the moment, rather more closed. Good length. Caroline reckons this should start drinking as soon as it is bottled (which I think may have been last week.

2008 Jean Noel Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Boudriotte

Crumbs I like this! A wonderful honey nose and on the palate it's like a really fine old cognac, excepet that it doesn't have the burn of course. It has oak, but it's beautiful integrated and the length is fantastic. Wow!
One to buy and a producer to follow.

Like a powerful version of her 08 Boudriotte, but lovely and elegant. It's far too cold, as Caroline admits, and my attempts to warm it up between my hands are not proving too succesful. Slightly rounder than the Boudrotte, but another stunning wine. So much good wine, so little money...

A much greener colour than the other wines on offer here tonight. This wine again has great structure; this seems to be something of a hallmark of the vintage; much better than the slightly blousy 06s.
Elegant and that slight whiff of honey on the nose again.

This strikes me as a lot of of money for a wine that isn't doibg much for me. Ther's nothing wrong with it, but I don't find that there's much right with it either.

Very, very good. Soft, beguilling, delicious.
I wa storn between buying tis and te Leroux Nuits St George Aux Thorey 1er Cru. I eventually went for the Nuits due to it giving me a bit more variety in my cellar, but this is a tough one to leave behind.

This was the best of the 3 Comte Armands on show tonight, but I still think they lack something against Ben's negociant wines. I realise I'm flying in the face of the critics here and I accept they may be better able to judge how things will age. but I'd buy Leroux over Comte Armand at the moment.

Another wine that reminds me of Yellowtail. Obviously it's of much higher quality, but it has lots of disparate parts that don't quite seem to fit together. They may resolve themselves, but there's no evidence of this at the moment.
Also, this is remarkably tannic, even for an NSG in this vintage.
