Introduction
The DAWGS held their monthly tasting at Urbano's in Dallas, TX. Since Urbano's is best setup as tables of six for large events we decided to break up into three tables of six and let each table coordinate their wines to match up with the five course prix fixe meal planned by Urbano's. Our table chose to taste our wines double blind. Now onto the show...
1996 Pol Roger Champagne Blanc de Chardonnay 91 Points

Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout with tiny beading. Nose of yellow pears, yellow apples and a little dash of nutmeg. Flavors of yellow apples, yellow pears and a some lemon zest. Bright acidity, medium body. Drink or hold.

2005 Chalk Hill Sauvignon Blanc 87 Points

Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of grapefruit, gooseberries, a hint of petrol and light notes of apricot. Flavors of grapefruit dominate with a little splash of peach. Light acidity and body. Drink now.

Tasted double blind at an offline. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Very light nose of sea mist and wet stones. Light and nimble flavors of peach, apricot and a hint of lime. Medium to bright acidity, light body. Drink now.
I was initially leaning towards a 2005 Loire white like a Savennières but my official guess was a 2005 Chablis; pretty much in the neighborhood.

Tasted double blind at an offline. Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of graphite, tobacco, wet stones, plum, berries, a hint of rose petals, light notes of white pepper. Flavors of berries and cherries with light notes of currants. Bright acidity, firm tannins, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold.
My guess was a 2002 Bordeaux. Not the first time I've mistaken a Spanish Tempranillo for a Bordeaux.

Tasted double blind at an offline. Light yellow to yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of orange foam, a little basil and a bit of honeysuckle. Flavors of sweet honey, a little almond, a bit of cream and some light notes of sherry. Medium acidity and body.
My guess was a NV Spanish white sweet wine from Jorge Ordonez.

2003 Bremer Family Cabernet Sauvignon Port 87 Points

Tasted double blind at an offline. Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Odd nose of wet stones or perhaps even dishwater dominate up front with added notes of licorice, white pepper and some currants. Flavors of currants, licorice and raisins. Light to medium acidity and body. Drink now.
My guess was a California Zinfandel Port from between the 2002 and 2005 vintages. After contacting the winery via email they wrote:
"The 2003 Port is a blend of 55.8% Zinfandel, 33.2% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11.0% Petite Sirah. It was fortified with brandy from Germain-Robin."
