Introduction

This is our annual once a year tasting and education of wine and food. Having this at the Kendall college is also a treat as these are some of the up and coming chefs and table servers.

Smoked Game Consomme Rabbit Rillete, truffle

Whitefish Mouseline, fennel sauce, spring onions

  • 1990 Kistler Chardonnay Vine Hill Vineyard 92 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

    Butter popcorn on the opening. A bit over the hill on its initial pour. Then the magic came thru as the wine opened up and was a real delight to drink. Lots of bottle variation.

  • 1994 Kistler Chardonnay McCrea Vineyard 93 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Mountain

    This was cleaner in the glass. Good bottle, good grassy nose, wonderful on the palate. Drink up.

This was the highlight of our evening. We tasted and then just rank them by preference.

Navarin of Spring Lamb, Butter Puff Pastry, Braised Stinging Nettles, Market Vegetables, Spring Herbs

  • 1955 Château Pichon-Longueville Baron 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

    Great color, unbelievable flavor for its age, began to disapate over the ocurse of the meal but what a joy! Group's #1 and my #2 wine

  • 1978 Château Talbot 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Julien

    A bit brown in the glass, good on the palate, smooth, stood the test of time over the meal. Group's 5th place my 4th place.

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

    Tour de force for the evening. Dark fruit color, heavy on the palate, leather, didn't fad, just fantastic and probably too young. Group's #1, my #2

  • 1982 Château Montrose 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Estèphe

    Good color, lighter on the palate as it ddeveloped in the glass. Held up very well thru the evening and with the lamb was very good. Group's #4 my #3.
