Dark Garnet color. Nice pepper and light eucalyptus on the nose. Very clean but soft on the palate with black raspberry. short finish.

1997 Greenock Creek Shiraz Seven Acre 93 Points

Dark, purple-red color. Northern Rhone style nose of white pepper, leather, tar, mineral, blackberry and a hint of eucalyptus. Very good body on the palate, nice finish, holding up quite well and drinking nicely.

2000 d'Arenberg Shiraz The Dead Arm 93 Points

Dark color. Great nose, very complex compared to the 2002, leather, pepper, licorice, black raspberry, cassis, and a bit of mint. The palate is full bodied and well balanced. The finish is very nice, 10 sec plus. For me this was better than the '02.

2002 d'Arenberg Shiraz The Dead Arm 92 Points

Very Dark color, BIG pepper on the nose of this wine, it dominated the wine a bit too much for me compared to the 2000, making the nose a bit less appealing. Very dark fruit on the palate, some spice and pepper. Solid wine, but I preferred the 2000

2003 Marquis Philips Shiraz 9 86 Points

This wine was a bit of an enigma. Well rated and respected in general, but this bottle showed very poorly to our group. The 16% alcohol was overwhelming on the nose and created enough heat on the palate to be too distracting. The were some good elements to the wine with nice big black fruit on the palate. and a good spice/pepper quality. But this wine is out of balance at least and not really my style.

2003 Kaesler Shiraz The Bogan 91 Points

Purple color, very dark. Dark red fruits on the nose, cherry, raspberry, pepper, gylcerin. I did find a bit of heat, but not distracting and well hidden on the palate. I enjoyed this wine. Caramel and coffee on the finish.

2001 Kay Brothers Shiraz Block 6 Amery Vineyards 93 Points

Very nice wine. Dark purple color. Nose is spice tar, pepper and dark fruits. Good fruit and depth on the palate. nice balance and finish. A bit of alcohol came through at times on the nose though. generally well hidden on the pallate.

2001 Barossa Valley Estate Shiraz E & E Black Pepper 94 Points

Maroon color with moderate bricking, Extremely complex nose of earth, forest floor, pepper, black raspberry, tar. the palate is smooth with well integrated tannins and shows good acidity. The finish is long and pleasant with dark fruit, coffee andspice notes. This wine is a beautiful example of what Aussie shiraz can be. Great wine. My WOTN hands down. (now i can't wait to try the 2002).
