1998 Joseph Drouhin Bonnes Mares 87 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Sweet floral stewed nose. More expressive than the La Romanee. Lots of dirt , earth with flowers mixed in. Moist dust, fresh floral berries, red raspberries, juicier than the La Romanee. Very lively and vibrant . However, the taint of 98 shows more on this than the La Romanee. Bitter herb finish.

1998 Bouchard Père et Fils La Romanée 88 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, La Romanée Grand Cru
Tight nose, lots of minerals and touch of earth. Good mouthful of assessible dark cherry fruits, very lively , sappy fruits. Still fresh and mineral driven with a touch of spice. Excellently structuredm velvety smooth orange tinted fruits. Nice transition from start to end. Clearner, purer, classier, more polished dark fruits with greater depth than the bonnes mares.

Earth stewed earth, mushrooms stewed with wild meats. Spiced. A dash of black cloves. Pristine cool clear polished dark red frutis.
