Introduction
A masterclass conducted by Nick Nobilo from the iconic NZ Nobilo wines. This was a promotional event to get the public to start paying greater attention to gerwurztraminer. Very attractive and aromatic and also a grape that does transmit terroir like pinot does.
Closing
I believe everyone at the tasting liked what was in the glasses. Noone could have any gripes with such an affablable varietal. Seemingly sweet but sometime also dry with minerality showing more in alsace but deeper flavours in NZ.

Beautiful bouquet of flowers, fragant and attractive. A light whirl of indian flowers, unobtrusive and a passerby on the palate with nutmeg and a touch of cinnamon.

2007 Domaine Marc Kreydenweiss Gewurztraminer Kritt Les Charmes 84 Points

Really smells like 7up! with smoke and wet stone minerality. Delicate flavours of oragne blossoms, biutter orange pith, and finished with orangey aftertaste.

Fresher citrus grapefruits, lightly sweet florals, spiced nutmeg and rich orange marmalade but not the sweet kind. This leaves a bitter orangey sweet taste with cinnamon stick.

Fresh morning dew, honey dews, cool melons . Very aromatically perfumed. Slighly oily palate like a cute small paunch of winnie the pooh. Seamless paalte of spicy orange puree left to macerate, lychees . with floral aura.Gentle yet affirmative. Delicious!

2005 Vinoptima Gewürztraminer Reserve 86 Points

Old cab zingy smells, spicy flowers, musk. Aromatically very exhuberant. Almost sauternes like with botrytis orange flavours, apricots, pineapple bits. Some bitter nutmeg and cinnamon atop baked orange tart.Think and almost honeyed. Rich and almost reminscent of an unctuous wine. Very unusual and different.

2004 Trimbach Gewurztraminer Cuvée des Seigneurs de Ribeaupierre 86 Points

Mineral laced fresh citric zestyness. An ooohing great sense of balance. Aromatic in the mouth . Spicy preserved ginger slices , orange pith bitterness and almost dry finish. Excellent and classy.
