Introduction

Met up with Albert Mann at Weygandt Wines in Cleveland Park. Great guy, and he poured some great wines.

  • NV Albert Mann Crémant d'Alsace 87 Points

    France, Alsace, Crémant d'Alsace

    the nose is full of lemon zest and chalk. high minerality, lemon zesty, lots of chalk. really spicy and zesty. the acidity is razor-sharp and lingers on the finish.

  • 2008 Albert Mann Pinot Blanc 86 Points

    France, Alsace

    60% pinot blanc, 40% auxerrois. i got lots of tropical fruit on the nose. it's fat, almost oily on the palate with canteloupe melon, and chunky pineapple. mouthfeel is nice, but it's not really complex.

  • 2007 Albert Mann Riesling Furstentum 89 Points

    France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru

    floral nose, some honey as well. a bit sweet, but balanced by high acid. apricots covered in honey, and there's a streak of minerality that runs through it.

  • 2007 Albert Mann Pinot Gris Hengst 90 Points

    France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru

    the nose is very nice, golden apples, pears. quince, honey flavors, really full and thick, coats the palate almost like foie gras. this would be great with some duck breast. i got a hint of rosemary as well. solid stuff. would've scored it higher if it had a bit more minerality to it.

  • 2007 Albert Mann Gewurztraminer Steingrübler 92 Points

    agree with jahlove on this one. the nose on this baby is really exciting. a bit of musk, ginger, spice, orange peel and some peach ring candy. full and plump on the palate with sweet peach jam flavors. but the residual sugar is doing it for me because of the minerals, sea salt and ginger snap flavors. really long, smooth finish. don't remember a gewurz that was this complex but so easily drinkable and enjoyable. it's not harsh or in your face, it's just a delicious wine to drink.

  • 2006 Albert Mann Pinot Noir Clos de la Faille 84 Points

    light ruby colored. nose shows some cherry and a bit of currant. i do like the mouthfeel and the silky tannins, but the flavors are pretty weak. i'm ok with lighter-styled pinots, but this one just doesn't bring enough umpff.
