Introduction

Started with a nice cheese plate, dinner was a VERY thick Porterhouse, potato dish with cheese and bacon and mini zuchs.

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley

    on the nose - melon with a squirt of lime juice. Some apple and mineral on the palate. Also wood and peppercorn on the nose. a very nice chard and drinking well at this point. i'd give it a few more years of life. drink up.

  • 2000 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles 93 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru

    Apricot and orange zest on the nose. Mouthfeel is very interesting - cloudy with fat, comes in waves. A little acidity. It was perhaps a little too cold when first opened and hence very tight - there was almost no nose. Once it warmed up a little it got GREAT. This wine could be decanted. When compared to the 2004, I think this is a better vintage.

  • 1998 M. Chapoutier Châteauneuf-du-Pape Barbe Rac 94 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

    Red fruit, carmelized pear (cooked), and a little tartness on the nose. A healthy dose of alcohol, but not too much on the nose. Mineral/stone mixed on the palate. This wine is really drinking well at this moment. One of the favorite wines of the night. But also could last another 5-7 years in my estimation.

  • 1993 La Jota Cabernet Sauvignon Anniversary Release 93 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley, Howell Mountain

    Black cherry on the nose, very thick. More alcohol on the nose versus the 1994. More complexity versus the 1994. Black cherry soaked in Drambuie. No pencil lead evident like in the 1994.

  • 1994 La Jota Cabernet Sauvignon Anniversary Release 92 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley, Howell Mountain

    Chalky red fruit on the nose. Some pencil lead and light oak on the nose. A nice finish that got better over time. Decant for 1 hour and 1 hour in the glass. We all agreed that the 1993 was better due to more complexity.

  • 1998 Château Pichon-Longueville Baron 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

    Prune on the nose. Oak shavings (wet)/(muted), with some pencil lead. Super dark in color. Dry finish. We all agreed that this wine could go until 2025. No bricking and very tight. It needed more air, but we were short on time.
