Walt came over with the Amarone and I opened the sangiovese which both matched perfectly with the pizza we cooked on the bbq. There was a goat cheese, carmelized onions, roasted garlic along with a sausage, peppers, onions, and garlic with red sauce. For dessert chris made chocolate gelati with olive oil drizzled on top and then a very light dash of the maui black sea salt. That was an amazing combination that was paired with the Royal Tokay dessert wine, perfect finish.

nose of sweet, honey, stewed fruit, and mushroom. I took me a good half hour of repeadily whiffing the decanter to finally put the pieces together.
I would argue for extending the drinking windown on this wine, it's sitting in a very nice place right now.

Not what I was expecting from an amarone, but that's ok. Was missing the serious sweet raisin/prun on the palate but did have the nose. Nice QPR and quaffer with pizza.

Great golden amber color already. Classic nose of fruit/fig/apricot/honey which carries through on the palate. The palate has a very clean, crisp mouthfeel. Not syrupy at all. Maybe that's the acidity? Paired very well with chocolate gelati with olive oil drizzle and a sprinkling of Maui black sea salt. Amazing combintation!
