Introduction

Ben kicked butt on this tasting. Fantastic evening of wine and food in his home. I thoroughly enjoyed the Guigal and 1982 Bordeaux flights, although no notes on the 1982s. The 1998 Bordeauxs were not to my liking, but fun to try. If they become like the 1982s, they will be special.

  • 1994 Château Pape Clément Blanc

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

    I thought was okay, but I think I'd like mine a little younger. Good acid with tiny hints of sweetness and oxidation on the palate.

  • 1986 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Landonne

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie

    Consumed this with the 1982 and this is more vibrant of the two. (They were both fantastic.) Pepper and bacon were on the nose with plums and good acid on the palate. Such a pleasure to consume this with life still left.

    Talk about tasty! This showed a dark mulberry color in the glass. The wine was soft in the mouth and showing traditional bacon and pepper and loads of fruit. This could have used more acid and it is fully mature now. If I were fortunate enough to own any of these, I'd definitely drink now. I don't think there is too much life left here, but it is very pleasurable today.
