Italy against Spain

It was another very nice Friday evening in the Winecorner shop. Very intimate atmosphere and, as usually, only friendly neighbours attended the tasting. This time it was a presentation of Italian and Spanish low-mid price range sellection of the importer "Winkolekcja". 4 wines from Itlay from diffirent regions and 2 from Catalunya - Montstant and Penedes. The wines were not very spectacular but generally represented good value for money.

  Very light colour, watery. nose very delicate with some rubbery hints. Delicate bubbles and taste a little bit salty. Just OK.

• 2009 Acústic Celler Montsant Acústic Blanc 89 Points

  Spain, Catalunya, Tarragona, Montsant

  Pale colour. Very Interesting nose of grass and rosemery. taste - a little bit herbie, fresh, round with some only little bitter hints. A lot of minerality - soil. White with personality.

  colour - white gold- really light. Nose: salty. taste: Mineral and soily with medium accidity, subtle - you can feel the terroir.

• 2009 Civielle Garda Classico Chiaretto "Pergola" 84 Points

  I am not really into Rose but the colour was really inetersting - bright, candy - somehow artificial. Nose: rather complex - this dull rose nose loses the battle with fruity one! Wild starwberry dominate. taste: light bodied, fresh, short finish - not tiring.

  Violet colour with light rim - nothing exciting. nose: roses, roses and once more roses. taste: opaque but somehow fresh, tea, medium bodied, finish not very long. Take it or leave it.

• 2005 Jané Ventura Penedès Negre Selecció 87 Points

  Spain, Catalunya, Penedès

  colour very lively, dark with long legs. Nose: fruity with alcohol (shoulfd be served cooler), dark fruits - sweet cherries, cherries, blackberries. At the begining you might think its easy but just few minutes later its tannic especially in the finish. Long. Dark fruits - I like it. Should be decanted for some time.

Minority wins! The Acustic Blanc was definitly the best white and Jane Ventura Negre Sellection won the red competition. These wines were definitely the best during that event. I am going to recomend these bottles. Bought them myself:) Will report to You the next small and big events in Warsaw.
