1979 Giuseppe E Figlio Mascarello Barolo Villero 88 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Earthy, almost dirty. Still has some appeal, but not an exciting wine in any way. Double decanted about 4pm. Drunk around 8pm.

1978 Prunotto Barolo Riserva Cannubi 93 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Earth and black cherries in the nose. Classic Barolo with earth, tar, and cherries. Has a thickness in the mouth that is typical of 1978. Excellent length. Showing very nicely now. No reason to hold longer. Double decanted about 4pm. Drunk around 8pm.

1978 Francesco Rinaldi e Figli Barolo Cavalieri del Tartufo e dei Vini d'Alba Cannubio e Brunate Flawed

Fragrant herbal nose with some hints of oxidation. In the mouth, maderized. Too bad. Not completely bad, but not quite right. Double decanted about 4pm. Drunk around 8pm.
