Introduction
Drank a bunch of wines with 6 other people. All wines except the champagne served blind.
The double Portuguese reds were a surprise as they were made in different styles. Fun confusion.
NV Devaux Champagne Brut Grande Réserve

Refreshing and easy drinking champagne.
Yeasty nose with nice minerals and grapefruit. On the palate it was vibrant and fruity with a little residual sugar making it just a tad sweeter than usual dry champagnes I've had. It was bought while on discount so it was quite a good QPR. Nice mouthfeel although the bubbles were not as fine as I would like. Overall very delicious and worth the buy at the discounted price.

2007 Château Mourgues du Gres Gard Terre d'Argence

Drank at room temperature
Nose: Predominantly very floral notes with hints of flintiness and citrus. Very enjoyable
Taste: Initially very dry with the flint and minerals taking the majority of the palate. As dinner progressed the floral aspects kicked in and so did more pears and stone fruit. Matched rather well with roasted duck.

Decanted for 45 minutes
Nose: Dark fruits and stewed meats. Rather fruit forward
Taste: Medium bodied with loads of delicious fruit but not over the top and not over the top; with some secondary earthy notes popping up later. Simple easy drinking and very enjoyable.

2004 Vinhos Sogrape Douro Callabriga

A blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca & Touriga Nacional

Decanted for 30 minutes (would have benefited with more decanting, at least an hour)
Nose: A good mix of both red fruits and profiles due to the oak such as a touch of vanilla. It took some swirling for the oak to temper down but in my opinion, it should have been decanted for longer. Some mistaken the nose for a more fruity cabernet sauvignon.
Taste: Good concentrated fruit on the palate with a nice presence of a christmas fruitcake and a little chocolate cake. As the dinner progressed a little herbaceous notes appeared and would have liked to enjoyed this for a longer period of time to see where it goes.
