Half bottle. Pale yellow with some green. This is all about the greener side of Riesling. Herbs, white and green flowers, and a saline, Chablis-like quality. On the lighter side for Austrian Riesling, but marvelously explosive intensity with peachy fruit coming out later and a torrent of stoniness carrying the finish. Also has a bitter quinine component that I sometimes find in Chablis. Outstanding wine with great drive.
Medium yellow color-funny, it looks thicker than the Salomon and is. Ripe spiced peach on the nose. Rich, glyceral, full bodied. Something reminds me a lot of Gruner here; in fact, I'm not sure I would have identified the varietal correctly. Good enough structure and acid to just stop short of being too fat. The texture gives a sense of sweetness, and this may have some residual sugar. Enjoyable but loose, lacking some tension between sweetness and acidity.

2006 Karl Lagler Riesling Smaragd 1000-Eimerberg
