Mineral, steely and floral aromas. Whiff of seashells. Faint vegetal notes. Bone dry palate, crisp acidity. Stone sucking minerality. Not tremendously long on fruit. Pleasant aperitif.
Not impressed. Maybe its not my personal style. Very cheesy aromas (chevre). Honey and slight savoury notes too. Crisp and rounded on the palate. Very austere. Very dry. But exceptionally warm - alcohol really burns. And finishes with a woody splinter taste.
Intense nose. Very rich with minerals and beeswax. Spicy dry palate. Ripe fruit, peach and honey. Warm bitter finish. Needs decanting. Similar traits to a fino sherry perhaps.
Fairly light colour, dusty rim. Fresh, red fruit. Slightly jammy aromas. Bit of minerality. Fruit burst on the initial attack but fades dramatically. Leaves a rather bitter and astringent taste.
Quite a deep blood red core but very brown at the rim. Vegetal notes; figs and cherry liqueur. Some dark choc. Full body, nice spicy fruit. Quite savoury. Good level of acidity. Tannin present but not aggressive. Good length of fruit.
Wine of the evening's tasting. Very dark and purple. Nose of violets, cocoa, menthol and herbs. Still plenty of nose to open up me thinks. Palate is big, bold and brutal. Ripe cranberry fruit. Rich, smooth and velvety feel. Tannins there, but nicely integrated. Lovely.
Light in colour. Cooked apple aromas, some dried apricot and minerality. Light palate, nice level of acidity. Refreshing and by no means over sweet or cloying. Nicely balanced. Not sweet enough to pair well with desserts maybe. Perhaps with roast pork and apple sauce?
