No notes taken but this showed very well. Enough Zin spice, but with an elegant personality. I'm inclined to drink the rest of my '03 Turley's over the next 6-9 months as they seem to be past peak (but still plenty good).
Popped and poured. Nose is literally dripping with oak and ripe black fruit. Large scaled with more ripe fruit and oak on the palate. There's not a lot of obvious structure discernable at the moment. Still fairly tannic. Decent finish. Comes across as obnoxious stuff right now, but I'm left mildly optimistic for the future. I plan to lock up the remaining bottles in hopes of having a better experience in say 5 years or so.
A recent purchase that likely suffered from sub-standard storage. No notes taken. Decanted about 30 minutes before serving. Smelled and tasted much older than I expected it to. The nose reminded me of an older Bordeaux (say '66) with mild dark fruit, dried herbs and some funk. Barely mid-weight in the mouth, but the texture is fairly smooth for Petite Sirah. Mild fruit flavors, fairly compact. Not much tannin. OK finish. I don't think I'll hold the other bottle I bought for lone as these particular bottles are past peak.
