Flight 1 (6 Notes)

  • 2009 Freeman Vineyards Fortuna 91 Points

The nose features fresh pears and apples layered with dried fruits and flowers. The palette starts with a rich apricot and pear with a really nice texture and a long, relatively oily finish.

  • 2003 Freeman Vineyards Secco Corvina Rondinella 92 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Hilltops

The nose is predominantly savoury cherries and a tiny bit of nutty wood. Overall it is fresh and vibrant. The palette is a fabulous sweep of textured tannins with fleshy fruit flavours and dried herbs that go all the way to the finish.

  • 2008 Collector Wines Shiraz Marked Tree Red 89 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District

Spicy and luscious with red fruits and raspberry. The palette has white petter and textured tannins. The finish isn't huge, but I assume it will improve.

  • 2009 Collector Wines Shiraz Reserve 90 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District

A lot of Rhone characteristics such as capsicum, spice and earthy fruits with savoury notes. The palette is loaded with coffee and leather, but with a very lifted mouthfeel and an interesting finish.

  • 2009 Clonakilla Shiraz Hilltops 94 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Hilltops

I'm begining to warm to this wine now. I've bumped it up a few points this time. I really like the earthy and funky start to the fruit and wood combination on the nose. The palette has plenty of blackberry and liquorice with a great mouthfeel and a textured, tannic long finish.

  • 2008 Clonakilla Syrah 93 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District

The nose is chock full of dark juicy fruits with a purfumed, spicy oak that add some interesting complexity. A good tannin balance on the palette with some delicate blackberry and cherry notes on the finish.
