Relatively full bodied but good acidity and actually less sweet than their sparkling wine. Still, Demi-Sec style. Some earth for complexity. Also good basic Touraine Chenin Blanc.
Light yellow. Pretty enticing, complex nose with dominant orange peel tones. Lots of glycerine here. Terrific mouth feel and weight without any obvious wood dressing it up. Open and quite delicious right now, but firm enough to last at least a couple of years. I really liked this wine, which ranks amongst the best Spanish whites I've ever had the opportunity to try.
Lighter color than the '08 and an entirely different wine. Leaner and much more mineral with a bitter, quinine-like core that reminds me of Muscadet. Not as pleasurable as the prior vintage, at least at present.
Dark. Clean black fruit in a more modern style. Fairly big wine but reasonably shapely. Although I was told that the wood treatment is all older French oak, I still got the pine resin more typical of American oak. Tannic but approachable. Not great complexity at this point.
Saturated ruby. Some fruit but the aromatics are dominated by a pronounced pickle barrel quality that is presumably imparted by the oak. Way overdone. Good, concentrated fruit that does not at all speak of varietal character. Sorry, I knew there was a reason I avoid California Sangiovese.
2008 La Grange Tiphaine Montlouis-sur-Loire Nouveau-Nez

Some yeastiness, Chenin fruit, and moderate dosage. Not particularly fine but good nonetheless.
