Introduction

Nothing too exciting in this range although the Morgeot was good and the reds are authentic and true to their Cote de Beaune origins. I found the color of the whites to be worrisome and advanced looking for their age.

Flight 1 - Whites (3 Notes)

Flight 2 - Reds (3 Notes)

  • 2007 Bruno Colin Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge Vieilles Vignes

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet

Pale red center. Light earth and strawberry aromatics. More earth than fruit on the palate, decent length. Drinks like a Bourgogne, and as such, not nearly worth the price.

  • 2007 Bruno Colin Maranges 1er Cru La Fussière

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Maranges 1er Cru

Slightly deeper color than the Chassagne VV. Briary raspberry and soil. Good acidity, moderate tannin for its size. Similar weight as the prior wine, more upfront fruit, light, and an earthy finish that quickly tails off. I wouldn't buy this one either.

  • 2007 Bruno Colin Santenay 1er Cru Gravières

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Santenay 1er Cru

Pale with a tawny edge. Wood char and flowers on the nose. Slightly more ripeness and amplitude of fruit than the other reds with a combination of red and black fruit. Less acidity, a bit of spice, and a longer, more harmonious soil finish. Good now.
