similar notes to last time. a bit of meat on the nose. the palate is medium bodied. i picked up a bit of iron and pepper too. it tastes a bit weak and tired though.

the nose shows violets and magic markers. it's full and fruity. the palate is soft, the tannins are firm, and there's a lot of great brambly fruit, highlighted with smoke. a wine whose nose made me forget where i was, but whose palate just wasn't enough to knock me out. still a great bargain.
not as good as the 07, but still a decent wine. i found this to be well-balanced with good acid, elegant fruit and smoky spices. not a complex or intense wine, but i think i appreciate it for its balance and drinkability.
blueberries, earth and licorice aromas burst from the glass. loam, blueberries, smoke, incense and earth on the palate. this wine is bold and it doesn't wimp out with its fruit. but the structure is firm. showing well now, but this would do better in a year or two. impressive effort for a cotes du rhone. a really solid botle, made from 100% syrah.
this is a new world-styled wine done with tact and freshness. the nose is full of plums, blueberry pie and dark chocolate. the fruit is really juicy. it just bursts and coats the paate. ripe blueberries with chewy red licorice and chocolate. medium acid. could use more for balance, but i still really enjoyed this. 85% syrah.

wow. tooch and i agree on this wine for sure. that's when you know it's a realyl decent syrah. (100 percent). so, on the nose, cassis and plum skins explode. with air and swirling, this gets richer and richer, showing some sweet plums, even some figs and dates. on the palate, the mouthfeel is so creamy and gorgeous. the tannins are sweet, but firm, and they coat the palate. it feels like the fruit glides over the palate. acidity is there for balance. as tooch said, this wine has density, complexity and rich, fresh fruit. tasted, bought a bottle to bring home. val and i drank it that night and both loved it. after two hours being opened, this approached its pinnacle of creamy, fruity, plushness.
