    tasted blind.
    nose - blackberry, earth, spice
    mouth - sour cherry, dark cherry, extreme elegance, very dry, and a long lingering spicy finish.

  • 1984 Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard 92 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville

    tasted blind. phenomenal nose of mint and spearmint. Amazing that wine could smell like that.
    mouth - mauture but not fading. A touch thin on the finish. good minty midpalate. extreme elegance.
    Slightly disadvantaged as tasted amongst the pure power of the 04 Maiden, 02 Hundred Acre, and 96 Hillside Select.
    Probably this would have paired the best with the meal.

  • 2002 Hundred Acre Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan 96 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

    nose - dark cherry, olive, vermouth, per brian clove & caramel
    mouth - clove, cinnamon, other spices, and deep dark fruit with a very rich midpalate showing amongst other things licorice and dark chocolate, followed by a long long finish. Still with huge tannins. I am still tasting this the next day - a sign of a fine wine. This wine had lots of spiciness that i'm guessing was from the oak(?), however the fruit was able to stand up to it. Outrageousness in a glass. Utterly lavish.

  • 1996 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select 95 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley, Stags Leap District

    nose - black cherry, cola per mike, earth
    mouth - very harmonious and well integrated, with good minerality. delicious black fruit.
    while it was an amazing wine, i think it lacked the concentration of the 02 Hundred Acre.
