France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Lovely nose with floral notes and hints of maturity. Tart cherry palate with great acidity. Not a lot of weight and some tannins showing up on the backend. Elements softened and integrated with time in the glass.
81% Grenache, 14% Carignan, 5% Syrah. Quite light in color. Bit of smokiness on the nose, but not offputting. Light to medium bodied, adequate acidity and great spice. Touch of oak and a nice long finish. This is not what I was expecting from Cali grenache. I would probably guess old world CdR from a cooler year if tasting blind. Nice work Eric & Dave!

Bit of funk on the nose, but sweet funk, like someone sprayed a horse stall out with cherry juice. On the palate, this is fresh, pure and focused with resolved tannins and great acidity. Not much secondary character, but drinking well now.

Nose is a bit closed, I thought I got a whiff of green, but it might have been my imagination. Definitely not green and mean. This is palate coating with great depth and structure. Nice dark cherry fruit and asian spice. The tannins are ripe but abundant and so I would hold onto this for awhile.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Iodine and red fruit on the nose. More red fruit on the palate with great acidity. Light bodied, without a lot of complexity, but silky in the mouth with everything in balance. This suffered a bit in comparison to the big and sexy '05 Jadot CdlR.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Expected this to be shut down like so many of the '05s I've had in the past year, but it was shockingly open. Big, ripe red fruited nose. More deliciously pure red fruit on the palate, floral notes and minerality. Some tannin structure comes through on the backend, but this is drinking wonderfully right now.

Nose was tart cherry and a bit one-dimensional to me. But on the palate this was deep and complex, with lovely cherry and raspberry fruit, clove and nice acidity. Delicious.
Wow. Intoxicating nose of honey, caramel and baking spices. Wonderfully botrytised palate, complex and layered with white flowers and spice. Nice balancing acidity. Phenomenal.
