Medium yellow, about the same tone as the Clos Ste. Hune. Rich, complex aromatics which include a whiff of baby powder, tea, peach, and citrus. Fairly round entry, dry, excellent acidity, and superb minerality on the finish. Of the 3 bottles of this I've had over the past 4 years, this was the freshest and most structured. Not far off the quality of its more expensive stablemate.
First time tried since 2006, and this was much leaner and finer than that bottle. Dried peach, lemon, and some petrol. Magically light in the mouth for an Alsatian Riesling, yet possessing tremendous intensity and expansion of flavor like a great red Burgundy. It shares the minerality of the Frederic Emile. Over time, as it warmed, it fleshed out and to an extent, converged in style with that wine. Again, its youthfulness and crisp structure were revelatory.

Medium to lighter ruby. Mullberry and anise. Positively silky for an '88 Burgundy with some real sap. Focused black fruit with a hint of soil. Not at all hard or austere at present. Above expectations and simply drinking exceptionally well now.
Light gold. Botrytised nose which makes it hard to describe the character of the fruit. Viscous, spicy, low acidity, although the latter is not a fatal flaw. Somewhat simple and lacking interest, especially compared to the purity and classicism of the 2 Trimbach wines tonight. Harsh finish. Hardly inspiring.
