2009 Tokaj Hétszőlő Furmint Tokaji 86 Points

Hungary, Tokaji

Medium bright lighter yellow apple color.
Nose ow white pepper, peach, tropical fruit and some minerality.
Medium finish. Good focused acidity. Clean.
Light metallic flavor with some chamomile tea. A little austere and awkward as a whole.
Easy going and easy to drink. Refreshing.

2006 Château Cos d'Estournel Goulée 88 Points

France, Bordeaux, Médoc

Medium ruby color with a slight purple ting. Not opaque.
Ripe red and purple fruit. New World styling. Bit of a jammy nose - very accessible.
Some light bricking spice - not typical Bordeaux nose. Hollow mid palate. Shorter finish but nice acidity.
I liked the nose but the palate fell short.

2007 Château Cos d'Estournel Les Pagodes de Cos 90 Points

Medium dark purple. Heady sexy and flashy nose. Some red vegetation but creamy and ripe.
Cassis, light curry spice with clove and white and pink peppercorn. Some mocha and noticeable oaky licorice - a lot going on.
Drinkable now sporting a round body. Plush fruit driven red floral flavors on the palate. Silky.

2003 Château Cos d'Estournel 95 Points

A stunning wine. Deep rich more purple than ruby color. Gorgeous complex nose.
Screamed big Indian curry spice with plump red fruit, fresh rose flowers and and loads of milk chocolate.
Layers of licorice, menthol and rich freshly baked Snicker-doodle spice. Well polished balanced wine.
Still young but showing nicely with a decent decant. There's a nice candied jammyness that shows elegance not over extraction.
Excellent.

2005 Château Cos d'Estournel 97 Points

A profound wine of enormous extraction while retaining balance. A tour de force that will age effortlessly for three or more decades. This is first growth quality juice in my book.
The color is a star bright royal purple with a black core that is opaque throughout. This displays a sexy, voluptuous style on the nose you can't help but smile with each inhale.
Really young there are gobs of dark black and blue berries, earth, dark and milk chocolate, purple flowers - lilacs.
Both New and Old World styling show aromatically. Overall though the aromas are all about the underlying spice that shows in every other aspect of the nose. Heavily layered.
The palate comes across pure and very clean. Again, lots of rich big fruit accompanied by enough minerality and spice to make the juice in harmony and unique. There are considerable sweet tannins with precise acidity.
Lay this down for a bit or give it a good 4-6 hour decant. This is the real deal. Highly recommended for any collector's cellar.

Purple hue with touches of ruby. Nose is a bit shut down - just slightly though. Dark black currant, blueberry, dark roast coffee - some muted fruit and leather.
Very subtle aromas. Palate makes up for it though - which is rarely the case in Bordeaux as it's often the other way around.
Clean and pure. Really young. The finish shows some good grip too. Some licorice and touches of brown sugar spice on the back end. Quite good and a great buy for about $80.

2007 Tokaj Hétszőlő Tokaji Late Harvest 89 Points

Fresh apples and honey. Honeydew and vanilla coupled with some yellow flower notes. Slightly greener qualities overall but still yellow aspects - the honey and floral play.
The fruit itself is what shows more green - apples, pears and melon. Light molasses component on the back end with a touch of residual sugar on the finish. Still some good body and balance. Quite nice.

Distinct enjoyable petrol nose. Cinnamon sugar. Some plastic and slate rockyness. Super eccentric and expressive aromatically.
The nose shows precision. Focused green and white fruit. A light petroleum jelly note as well with some burnt rubber.
The palate is awesome. Lemon zest, honey coated apples and really round on the tongue. Clean long finish. Excellent. Recommended.

Young fresh barn yardy. Still some petrol on the nose but much more of a fresh hay aroma. Banana, charred fruit. Lovely palate.
Big and rich but balanced. A massive wine. Just straight up tasty. I like when a wine has that "deliciousness" factor.
A little bit more of that plastic on the nose as well - but its really nice in a new product sort of way.
Really cool. An awesome Tokaji.

2001 Tokaj Hétszőlő Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos 94 Points

Deeper but still only moderate dark golden color. Starts to develop a rich unctuous nutty aroma.
Yellow fruit, vanilla, all spice, cloves, charred wood. So many layers on the nose. Fruit, spice, earth even some WHITE vegetation.
Silky smooth. Great weight with lots of life but powerful at the same time. One of the better sweet wines I have tasted in a while.
Some caramelized sugar and toffee notes on the back end. Masculine but refined. Light minerality with a front faint saline note. Outstanding. Highly recommended.
