Flight 2 (1 Note)

  • 1993 Bolla Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 86 Points

Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico

Past it's prime but still pleasant and drinable. It has softened significantly and little tannins remain. A light sweet finish (which is short) with the hint of raisins. Bronze all around the edges with a light damp cellar nose. (maybe the cork - I will check out another bottle) Drink these up asap.

  • 2004 Meerlust Cabernet Sauvignon 92 Points

    South Africa, Coastal Region, Stellenbosch

Chalky earthiness and distinctively South African Cabernet even in the blind tasting; a great clean bouquet which shows the terrior. Also a light berry nose and dry yet moderate finish. I think this can still lie down for a number of years and soften a bit - try again at the end of 2011.

  • 2002 Dalla Cia Giorgio 94 Points

    South Africa, Coastal Region, Stellenbosch

very light smokey and chalky bouquet otherwise I would have said this seem like a classic french bordeaux. I was surprised afterwards to see that it was only Cab and Merlot as there was a lot going on in the glass. WOuld be great with a rib eye steak. Fairly lengthy finish.
